2 killed as Metrolink train strikes car in City of Industry – Jobsmaa.com

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that two occupants of the vehicle were killed when a Metrolink train collided with a car in the city of Industry on Thursday morning.

Metrolink train 407 crashed into a white Toyota Camry on the tracks near the intersection of Rose Hills Road and Capitol Avenue, killing two people inside the car around 8 a.m. Thursday, officials said. Metrolink said the train was traveling between the Industrial and Montebello/Commercial stations.

Two other people were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Authorities did not say how they got into the crash, and the identities of the victims have not been released.

Five train passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, according to Metrolink. Although two trains were canceled after the accident, customers were offered transport alternatives and the schedule for the rest of Thursday will not be affected, the company said.

It is not known how the car ended up on the path of the oncoming train. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
