Alhambra police officers shot and killed a man Saturday when a man advanced with a knife, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Around 11:40 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting a suicidal man in the 1200 block of South Almanzor St. in Alhambra, and when they arrived they were approached by a man with a knife, the sheriff's department said. The Alhambra Police Department is investigating the incident.
The sheriff's department said the man was shot multiple times after he “aggressively” approached officers and ignored commands to drop the knife.
The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police found what they described as “a large kitchen knife” at the scene. No further details have been released.
