Essential Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree (Graduate) from any recognized university
Desirable Qualifications
- Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism
- OR 5 years’ experience in Print/Electronic Media
- Proficiency in Marathi, English, and Hindi languages (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Preference given to candidates with computer proficiency
- Marathi typing skills preferred
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 50 years
- Age relaxation as per Government of India rules for reserved categories
- Candidates working in Government/Autonomous bodies should obtain No Objection Certificate from their employers

Note:Â Demand Draft should be in favour of “Drawing and Disbursing Officer, Akashvani, Pune – 411005”. The DD should be attached with the application form.
Important Dates
Selection Process
- Stage 1 – Written Test (100 Marks):Â Candidates will take a written examination to assess journalistic ability, professional capability, and translation skills from Marathi to English and English to Marathi. Minimum qualifying marks: 50 out of 100.
- Stage 2 – Interview (100 Marks):Â Candidates who secure 50 marks and above in the written test will be called for a personal interview. The Selection Committee will assess suitability for radio news work.
- Final Merit List:Â Final selection will be based on combined performance in written test and interview.
Salary/Stipend
- Nature of Employment:Â Casual/On-demand assignment basis
- Assignment Frequency:Â Not exceeding 6 assignments per month and maximum 72 assignments per year
- Salary:Â As per Prasar Bharati rules for casual news readers (varies based on assignment duration)
- Benefits:Â No regular benefits; casual assignments do not confer any right for regularization of services
- Note:Â Casual assignments will not lead to permanent or regular employment
