Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 – Vacancy Details

A total of 30 vacancies (tentative) have been announced for the 144th Technical Graduate Course (TGC-144) commencing January 2027. Vacancies are distributed across notified Engineering streams. These vacancies are subject to change or re-appropriation depending on organizational requirements. Recommended candidates of TGC-144 whose merit is not within the allotted vacancies of their respective Engineering streams may be offered Short Service Commission (Tech) Course (Apr 2027), subject to meeting all eligibility conditions and availability of unutilised vacancies.

Note: Only the Engineering streams strictly as notified in the official notification (Para 3) will be accepted. Any variation between the nomenclature of engineering stream as given on the degree parchment/marksheet and that submitted in the online application will result in cancellation of candidature. Candidates with graduation from foreign countries are not permitted to apply.

Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application (11-06-2026). Only unmarried male Engineering Graduates are eligible to apply. The educational qualification must be from a University/Institution recognized under an Act of Central or State Legislature in India, or educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed/Autonomous Universities under UGC Act 1956, IIT Act 1961, AICTE Act 1987, NITSER Act 2007 & IIIT Act 2024. Candidates with Engineering Degree from foreign countries are not eligible to apply.

Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years of age as on 01 January 2027. Unmarried candidates born not earlier than 01 January 2000 and not later than 01 January 2007 are eligible to apply. Only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent (10th) certificate will be accepted; no other document relating to age will be accepted.

The selection process for Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 consists of multiple successive stages – shortlisting of applications based on cumulative percentage of marks in the Engineering degree (stream-wise), SSB Interview (five days), Medical Examination, Merit List, and issuance of Joining Letter. The final merit list is prepared engineering stream/subject wise on the basis of marks obtained at SSB interview only.

Merely qualifying at the SSB interview does not confirm final selection. If any candidate fails to report within 07 days from the reporting date mentioned in the Joining Letter without prior permission of the concerned academy Adjutant, their candidature will be cancelled and the next candidate in merit will be issued a joining letter.

Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 – Training Details

Selected candidates will be detailed for training at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun for approximately 12 months (January 2027 to December 2027). On successful completion of training, cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant. One year ante date seniority from the date of commission will be granted to Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry for the purpose of seniority, promotion, and increment of pay.

Candidates will not be allowed to marry during the period of training. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of application, though successful at SSB and medical, will not be inducted for training. The cost of training at IMA is at Government expense; candidates withdrawing for personal reasons will be liable to refund at Rs. 16,260/- per week (with 8% annual increment) as per MoD letter No. 16(1)/2017-D(GS.II) dt 15 Mar 22.

Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 – Pay & Promotion Structure

On successful commissioning, the pay of the officer shall be fixed at the first cell of Level 10 in the Pay Matrix. The training period shall not be treated as commissioned service. A stipend of Rs. 56,100/- per month is payable during the entire duration of training at IMA, Dehradun. CTC on commissioning is approximately Rs. 17–18 Lakh per annum (excluding free medical cover and travel to home town once a year).

How to Apply for Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online only through the official Indian Army Recruiting website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (registration not required if already registered). Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After registering, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard, then click ‘Apply’ shown against Technical Graduate Course. The online portal will be active from 13-05-2026 (1500 hrs) to 11-06-2026 (1500 hrs). Aadhaar number and Matriculation certificate are mandatory for registration.

No changes to details submitted in the online application can be made after closure of application. Candidates must click on ‘Submit’ each time they open the application for editing. CGPA/Grades must be converted into Marks as per the formulae adopted by the concerned University before filling in the online application. Candidates must submit only one online application; receipt of multiple applications will result in cancellation of candidature. DIGILOCKER certificates will not be accepted in lieu of original certificates.

Documents to be Carried to SSB Interview (Self-attested copies along with Originals):

  • One copy of the printout of application duly signed and affixed with self-attested photograph
  • Matriculation/Secondary School Examination certificate and marksheet (proof of Date of Birth, candidate’s name and Parent’s name)
  • 12th class marksheet and certificate or equivalent certificate/Diploma marksheet
  • Engineering Degree/Provisional Degree issued by the recognised university (Provisional Degree not more than 6 months old at time of joining)
  • Marksheets of all semesters/years
  • Certificate from Controller of Examination/Registrar regarding CGPA/Grades to marks conversion formula
  • Certificate from Controller of Exam/Registrar/Dean/Principal regarding cumulative percentage of marks upto 6th semester/3rd year (for final year appearing candidates)
  • Certificate from Principal/Head of Institution stating candidate is in final year and result will be declared by 01 Jan 2027 (for final year appearing candidates)
  • Declaration by final year candidate regarding submission of proof of passing by 01 Jan 2027
  • Documents related to civil verification

The second copy of the printout of online application is to be retained by the candidate for reference. There is no need to send any hard copy to DG Recruiting. Candidates serving in Armed Forces must inform their Commanding Officer in writing and carry the application countersigned by the Commanding Officer to SSB.

Important Instructions for Indian Army TGC-144 Recruitment 2026 Candidates

  • Only unmarried male Engineering Graduates who are citizens of India, subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries are eligible to apply.
  • Any variation between the nomenclature of Engineering stream as given on the degree parchment/marksheet and that submitted in the online application will result in cancellation of candidature.
  • Any variation in personal particulars (candidate’s name & parents’ name) in educational documents requires submission of an affidavit stating the variations.
  • Candidate must carry ORIGINAL Degree/Provisional Degree and all semester/year marksheets for SSB.
  • No hard copy applications will be accepted – online submission only.
  • Candidates must not marry until they complete full training; violation will lead to discharge and recovery of training cost.
  • Candidate should not have been debarred from appearing in any examination by UPSC.
  • Candidate should not have been arrested/convicted by a criminal court or involved in any court case.
  • Candidates withdrawn from NDA, IMA, OTA, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy or any Service Training Academy on disciplinary grounds are not eligible to apply.
  • No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained during SSB tests.
  • Once the SSB date has been selected, no request for change of SSB Interview Date/Centre will be entertained or replied to.
  • Candidates appearing for SSB interview for the first time are entitled to AC III Tier to-and-fro railway fare or bus fare including reservation-cum-sleeper charges within Indian limits.
  • Candidates are advised to visit https://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in regularly for updates. Queries will be replied only through the ‘Feedback/Queries’ option on the website. Queries received up to 03 days prior to closing of online application will only be entertained/replied.
  • In case of any discrepancy between Hindi and English versions of the notification, the English version will prevail.
