A total of 255 vacancies (208 current + 47 backlog) have been announced for the post of Category-II Stipendiary Trainee/Technician across 8 trades. These are distributed across SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, and UR categories. Out of 255 posts, 11 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) on a horizontal basis, adjusted against the respective social categories.

NPCIL KKNPP Stipendiary Trainee Technician Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application (29-06-2026). All qualifications must be from a recognized University or Institution. Candidates awaiting results of their qualifying examination are not eligible to apply. English must have been studied as one of the subjects at SSC (10th) level. One year of apprenticeship training after completion of a 1-year ITI course will be considered as one year of experience; period of internship will not be counted as experience. The National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) for a training duration of 3 years will not be accepted where the essential qualification is a 2-year ITI certificate.

Candidates must be between 18 and 24 years of age as on 29-06-2026 (born on or after 29-06-2002 and on or before 29-06-2008). Age relaxation is available for various categories. In case a candidate is eligible for age relaxation under more than one category, the relaxations will be on a cumulative basis subject to a maximum of 56 years. There is no age limit for NPCIL employees who otherwise fulfill the prescribed criteria.

Application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online through the payment gateway integrated with the application form (debit card / credit card / net banking / UPI). The application number will be generated only after successful payment of the fee. Applications without payment of the prescribed fee will be rejected. Female candidates, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA), and NPCIL employees are exempted from payment of application fee.

NPCIL KKNPP Stipendiary Trainee Technician Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages – Stage 1: Online Examination (Preliminary Test), Stage 2: Online Examination (Advanced Test), and Stage 3: Document Verification. Both Preliminary and Advanced Tests will be conducted on the same day without any break. Online Examination will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only. Question paper will be trilingual – Tamil, Hindi, and English. Candidates must qualify at each stage for final empanelment.

Candidates shortlisted based on the Stage-2 merit list (not exceeding 3 times the number of vacancies per trade/post) will be called for Document Verification. Final empanelment will be in the order of merit based on Stage-2 marks and the tie-breaking principle above. A waitlist equal to the select list will be maintained and operated for up to 1 year from the date of panel approval.

Important Instructions for NPCIL KKNPP Stipendiary Trainee Technician Recruitment 2026 Candidates

  • Only Indian Nationals aged 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates awaiting results of their qualifying examination are NOT eligible – all qualifications must be completed by 29-06-2026.
  • English must have been studied as one of the subjects at SSC (10th) level for all trades.
  • Exact percentage of marks must be entered – no rounding off (e.g. 59.99% should NOT be rounded to 60%).
  • NPCIL follows only the Central Government List for SC/ST/OBC – State Government lists are not accepted. Caste name in the certificate must match the Central Government List letter by letter.
  • OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 01-04-2026 (for FY 2025-26) and must be valid as on the closing date.
  • PwBD candidates must possess a Disability Certificate certifying minimum 40% disability; only permanent disabilities are eligible for reservation and age relaxation.
  • Trainees scoring less than 60% marks during the 2-year training period will NOT be absorbed into the post of Technician/B.
  • Selected candidates must execute a training bond / indemnity bond / bank guarantee of Rs. 5,07,000/- for a period of 5 years prior to induction.
  • The nature of duties on appointment involves working in round-the-clock shift.
  • Electronic gadgets including mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, etc. are not permitted inside the examination hall. Any infringement will result in cancellation of candidature.
  • No request for change of test centre, date, or time will be entertained under any circumstances.
  • Government employees (Central/State/PSU/Autonomous/Aided Institutions) must produce NOC from their employer at Document Verification – no other undertaking or resignation letter will be accepted in place of NOC.
  • Any dispute with regard to this recruitment will be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu only.
